Two Years Security Life of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis Patients in Moewardi Hospital of Surakarta Year 2010-2014
Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) drug resistance is one of the cause
of the high burden of TB in Indonesia. Death of patients
during treatment is an indicator that treatment goals
not achieved yet so that necessary to do monitoring to
improve the survival of patients during treatment. The
purpose of this study is to knowtwo years survival rate
and predictor factors of mortality in patients during
treatment at the Moewardi Hospital Surakarta. Methods:
retrospective cohort study of 250 drug resistant TB
patients who received treatment in Poli MDR TB of
Moewardi Hospital Surakarta period January 2011-
September 2014. Data were analyzed using kapplan meier
methods and factors that influence to two years security
life with a cox regression. Results: two years survival rate
of drug resistant TB patients was 74.82%. Comparison of
the probability of survival patients between two groups
showed significant difference in affecting two years
survival are age, type of patient, HIV status, side effects
of medications and culture conversion. On multivariate
analysis, predictor factors that affect to two years survival
of drug-resistant TB patients in Moewardi Hospital
Surakarta aged ≥ 40 years (HR 3.221; 95% CI 1.037 to
10.001) and HIV positive (HR 18.086; 95% CI 1.958 to
167.073). Conclusion: Increasing age and HIV positive
of drugresistant TB patientsmay accelerate the patient’s
death on the treatment period. Improving management
of drug regimens in patients expected to increase 2-year
survival of patients that could reduce mortality in patients
during treatment.
